OUR 2019 LEGISLATIVE SUCCESSES
These are certainly unusual times as we all try to make our way through the COVID-19 crisis.
I’m truly sorry for those who have lost loved ones. There has been huge devastation to our economy with business closures and unemployment skyrocketing.
There are resources collected at leg.colorado.gov/coronavirus specific to the State of Colorado. I am committed to helping constituents to connect to Federal and State agencies as best I can, and I urge you to contact me directly if you need assistance.
Collectively, my House Democratic colleagues and I have hosted more than 90 town halls, sent more than 250 newsletters, and offered assistance to thousands of older constituents to further our community during this difficult time.
Although the crisis required us to cut our budget by roughly 20%, I am hopeful the various federal measures (the CARES Act and similar) will alleviate some of the pain in terms of direct dollars to public education, mental health supports, public health and hospitals, small businesses and employers, paycheck protection, and health insurance expansion. This federal legislation is still being decided and appropriated, meaning that we will know more as the summer progresses.
Throughout this difficult process, I want you to know that I am making these decisions based on my core values that prioritize working families, public education, and the health of our community.
Please take care of yourselves, your family, and your neighbors. Please reach out to me for any reason.
There are better days ahead for our wonderful, beautiful Colorado.
I look forward to seeing you in person, celebrating with friends, and working together for this future.
